In a 1997 survey by George Barna, church people said the following:

Over half of people want leaders will:

• Describe a vision for the future (63%)
• Create the plans necessary to implement the vision (61%)
• Supervise the work of staff people (61%)
• Manage the day-to-day details and operations of the group they lead (56%)

A little over 1 out of 4 people want leaders will:

• Give up his/her personal convictions to satisfy the desires of the majority (29%)
• Fight for things to stay the way they are (26%)

I find the last two facts very interesting, if such a small majority of church people want things to remain the same why is it that most churches never change? Pastors often fear for their jobs or fear one of two leaders that resist the needed changes that the pastor tries to make. I guess that's where P2P comes in. My heart is to come along side of those shepherds to encourage them to move ahead in order to do what it seems the majority of church people yearn to see in their fellowships. A healthy, dynamic, disciple making church just like Jesus wanted (Matthew 28:19-20).
